Banana Smoothie Recipe
This is my favorite Banana Smoothie Recipe of all time!
Banana Blitz
This banana smoothie recipe makes 2 servings.
2 cups almond milk
2 large ripe bananas
1 tablespoon raw honey
1/2 cup plain yogurt with live active cultures
2 tablespoons extra-virgin coconut oil or 1/4 cup fresh coconut (preferably organic)
1 cup crushed ice
Add ingredients to your blender in the order listed and mix well.
Serve immediately.
Tips for Making a Better Banana Smoothie:
- If you're using a high powered blender like the Vita-mix, go ahead and use the fresh coconut. This type of appliance will do a superb job of grinding most fruit--right along with the seeds--which makes the process even more convenient.
And your smoothie will come out with a very creamy texture, which is what you want.
- However, if you're using a regular blender, DON'T use the fresh coconut. Regular blenders just don't have the power to grind it finely enough. And your smoothie will come out with a very gritty texture that will ruin it.
Use the extra-virgin coconut oil instead. It will still taste fantastic, trust me.
- If you happen to be in the market for a high-powered blender though, I'd suggest taking a look at the Vita-Mix. It's not cheap, but it's a real workhorse, and comes with a 7 year guarantee.
Plus, you can do a lot more with it than just make great smoothies.

Banana Smoothie Nutritional Benefits
Bananas are very high in plant protein. They are a good source of vitamins A, B1, B2 and niacin. Bananas are also rich in zinc, potassium, manganese, phosphorus, copper and iron. This makes them a great addition to any smoothie recipe. Almonds are high in protein, vitamin E, and phosphorus, which is really important for healthy bones and teeth. Yogurt is a calcium-rich food. And yogurt with live active cultures helps the body to absorb that calcium more easily. Coconuts are high in protein, potassium and natural sugars.
