Why Quick and Easy Healthy Recipes Are Great Tools for Wholesome Living

Let's face it. Most of us aren't thrilled at the prospect of having to prepare a healthful meal at the end of a busy day. It is so much easier to order take-out or drop by the drive-thru on the way home.

Granted, eating this way a few times a month won't do you any real harm. In fact, I am a big believer in eating whatever-the-heck-I-want once or twice a week for two reasons:

  • Some flexibility in my eating plan helps keep me sane
  • One or two comfort meals a week greatly reduces the urge to binge on comfort foods.

For me, it is so much easier to practice moderation when I can say to myself, "Hey, it's not like you're never gonna have another chocolate chip cookie again, girlie!" This way, I know that I can enjoy two or three and be done with it. And I don't have to deal with the whole "deprivation thing", which many times, is what leads to overindulgence in the first place.

After all, it's what we eat on a regular basis that most contributes to our health--or lack thereof.
