This Upper-Back Exercise Will Sculpt and Tone Back Muscles Quickly!
If you want to build a stronger, sexier upper back try the exercise below. It will help you to quickly sculpt your upper-back muscles. This exercise requires a set of dumbbells. If you're new to weight-bearing exercise, I would recommend that you start with lighter weights of 2 to 3 lbs. each.
Step One:Bend your knees to pick up your weights, one in each hand. As you hold your weights, turn your hands so that your palms face inward toward the sides of your body.
Step Two:
Slowly bend over from your hips, while keeping your lower back slightly arched.
Your upper body will now be almost parallel to the floor. (See illustration at right)
Let your arms extend downward at the sides of your body.
Your hands should hold the weights so that your palms face inward toward your legs.Inhale.
Step Three:
As you exhale, lift each dumbbell simultaneously straight up to your rib cage until your elbows are pointed straight back and slightly upward.(See illustration at right ) Now let your arms slowly extend back toward the floor. Only your arms should be moving. The rest of your body should be still, and your knees slightly bent. This is one complete repetition. Start with one set of ten repetitions and build up to 2 sets. Hints on Form: Though this exercise calls for very controlled movements, you will find it much easier to perform if you keep your elbows close to your body throughout the exercise. If you allow your elbows to move out from your body pointing sideways, you will be working your shoulders and not your back. So keep your your elbows tucked in and pointing directly behind, and you'll be on your way to building an attractive and well-developed upper back.
